Introduction

Zoo Negara Malaysia is managed by the Malaysian Zoological Society, a non-governmental organization established to create the first local zoo for Malaysians.

Zoo Negara was officially opened on 14th November 1963 and has matured into a well-known zoo all around the world. We have a total of over 5137 specimen from 476 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish.

Zoo Negara covers 110 acres of land which is situated only 5km from the city of Kuala Lumpur.

Over the years, the zoo has transformed itself to an open concept zoo with over 90% of its animals being kept in spacious exhibits with landscape befitting its nature.

What To Expect

Zoo Negara, also known as the National Zoo of Malaysia, is a zoological park located in Selangor, Malaysia. It covers an area of 110 acres and is home to over 5,000 animals from more than 450 species.

The zoo is divided into several different zones, including the African Savannah, Malaysian Rainforest, and the Reptile Park. Visitors can observe a wide range of animals, including tigers, lions, elephants, giraffes, orangutans, and many more.

In addition to observing the animals, visitors can also participate in a variety of activities such as feeding the animals, riding an elephant or a camel, and watching animal shows. There is also a children's section where young visitors can interact with animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and goats.

Things To Note

Accessibility: Wheelchair ramps and designated accessible pathways are available for most animal enclosures.
Restriction: Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Restriction: For safety reasons, touching or feeding the animals is strictly prohibited.Feeding areas for specific animals, but only with zoo staff supervision.
Restriction: Bringing outside food and drinks into the zoo is not allowed and Pets of any kind are not allowed inside the zoo.
